What is a Warthog
Built to be used. Not displayed.
The Warthog Series is Classic Overland’s utility-first Defender line — built to deliver authentic, usable, and durable Land Rover Defenders without the complexity and cost of a full Signature Series re-engineering. These are not show builds. They are purpose-built vehicles designed to be driven daily, worked hard, and enjoyed without hesitation.
Built on proven Defender 90 and 110 platforms with reliable 300TDI and TD5 diesel powertrains, every Warthog is mechanically simple, easy to service anywhere, and made to be fixed in the field. We focus on the things that matter for long-term ownership — cooling, brakes, suspension, charging, and seals — not over-engineered cosmetics.
Rooted in utility. Built to last.
the ranger – CO167
CO167 is the flagship of our Warthog Series — a fully expedition-ready Land Rover Defender 110 built to take on any trail in any climate. Developed in partnership with the Protect Our Parks movement and the Yosemite Climbing Association, this is our traveling proof of what the Classic Overland team can build without limitations. Powered by a 300TDI with Classic Overland signature modifications — straight-piped exhaust, EGR deleted, upgraded intercooler, a Falcon Turbos custom built turbo kit, and an enhanced cooling system engineered to handle Death Valley and Moab in peak summer just as confidently as Denali in the dead of winter. Riding on the flagship Old Man Emu suspension with a steel-plated clutch and reinforced strut towers, CO167 is wrapped, kitted, and equipped with a roof-top tent and full recovery gear from our partners at WARN, Factor 55, Old Man Emu, and Baja Designs. From 120° canyon floors to sub-zero alpine passes — this Defender doesn’t flinch. The poster child of the Warthog Series

CO164 — is a Land Rover Defender 110 Soft Top Pickup, fully reimagined by Classic Overland and finished in heritage green with a removable black soft top. Originally imported from the United Arab Emirates in early 2025, this left-hand-drive Defender received a full repaint, a complete interior retrim in hand-stitched Ferrari Saddle, and a freshly rebuilt fuel-injected 3.9L Rover V8 paired with a four-speed automatic. Adventure-style grille. Body-color flares. Tubular side steps. Wooden cargo flooring. 18-inch alloys on BFGoodrich KO2s. Locking center differential and four-wheel drive when the asphalt ends. This is the Defender you take to the coast and don’t bring back until Sunday night. Effortlessly cool, mechanically sorted, and ready to ride.

The Workhorse – CO101
CO101 — is the Warthog Series in its purest form. A Land Rover Defender 110 currently earning its keep on a working ranch in South West Texas. Originally part of the Ku Sungula Safari Lodge fleet in South Africa, this right-hand-drive Defender carries the marks of its first life with pride — subtle scars and weathered charm earned across years of game reserves and rugged backcountry. Rather than erase that history, we honored it. The engine has been fully refurbished, fluids and filters replaced, drive members upgraded to heavy-duty spec, and suspension rubbers renewed. Inside, the cabin has been retrimmed with hand-tailored upholstery from Melvill & Moon, crafted from heritage-grade South African materials. Built under the guiding philosophy of Ku Sungula — a Shona phrase meaning “to begin again” — this Defender doesn’t pretend to be new. It carries its story forward. Clean Texas title. Born in Africa. Refined in Texas. Currently working.
